Faraone – The Shop of Via Monternapoleone | Massimo Iosa Ghini

The sharp symbolism of the smooth, clear cut stone, the fluidity of the gold and precious metals encased in a sheath of elegant wood…It was necessary to put them together in the right proportions to create a space that enhances the contents and gives pleasure to those who live in and visit it .

Environmental Tuesday: Reclaimed Vintage Lighting

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Jenn Ryan of Reclaimed Lighting here in Atlanta and seeing her work used throughout her beautiful home. Jenn tracks down vintage bubbled glass mason jars and turns them into unique light fixtures. Check out the chandelier in her dining room:

Also, she created similar fixtures as pendant lights in her kitchen:

More information on Jennifer and her amazing light fixtures is here. She collects all kinds of vintage pieces to turn into lights, not just mason jars. I cant wait to see what she finds next!

It was a working man’s garden but there was a magnificent clump of Dicentra up against the neighbour’s garage that impressed the heck out of that ten year old boy. It seems that this plant has been around forever and has impressed more than one gardener. And so it should because it is extremely easy to grow and blooms like crazy in the shade.

Known also as Dutchman’s breeches, staggerweed (it is poisonous) and heart’s ease the Dicentra family are perennial favorites (excuse the pun).

Do Not Eat!

A beginning note is that the plant produces alkaloids and if you eat enough of the plant (why you’d do that is beyond me) you might get a narcotic effect. Read more…
