Varaluz is one of my favorite lamp manufacturers and I especially appreciate the Pinwheel contemporary lighting series. These wonderful aerodynamic table lamps, ceiling lights, and wall fixtures are the perfect fusion of recycled aluminum, modern design, and childhood whimsy. When is an onion not an onion? When they are ornamental onions or allium of course.
Now, before you turn up your nose at the thought of growing ornamental onions, understand that these are some of the most dramatic and striking of bulbous plant flowers. They range in size from small charmers like A. moly right up to the dramatic specimen (you only need one) A. giganteum. Oh dear. Its 5:05 and in my heat exhaustion I forgot to post my Flickr fave today. Seriously, to the many of you trapped under the heat dome, Im sorry. If you dont have A/C, go to the grocery store, open a frozen food sections door and stand there for a minute. Pour a glass of iced lemonade. Wear very little and later on, go pretend you live in that complex with the pool and take a dip. Be quick about it before The Pool Nazi can ask you which unit you live in. Yes, there is one in every complex, and male or female, its always a huge loser with other issues that go much deeper. But I digress.
