My mailbox was nearly empty on Saturday, so I decided to drag my nephew (who is visiting for the summer) to Barnes & Noble with me to fulfill my visual needs. It is where I re-discovered ModernHome Living magazine.
We first met at a newsstand in Manhattan in the Spring. It was it’s first issue featuring Mario Lopez.
Celebrity or not, I love to see homes belonging to others.
Their second issue, which I purchased last Saturday, features a tour of the apartment belonging to Sex and the City’s Big & Carrie.

Their apartment is a little too modern for me but there are certain things I liked in particular. Such as Carrie’s pristine closet. I would spend my entire day in a closet like Carrie’s.
The upholstery and fabric in the apartment is stunning. In fact, I was tempted to take advantage of a great deal being offered by Maddie G Designs on the Belgravia fabric. I just needed a game plan.
What strikes me the most about this apartment is the attention to detail. There was not one thing overlooked by the set designers.
Since I can personally attest to being a family of two, I find the apartment living for two quite fascinating.
If I were to replicate this style of design, the first designer to pop into my mind is Robert Petril. I can see him take an inspiration such as Big & Carrie’s apartment and create a design that is on the edge.
I would be content just to have a closet such as Carrie’s. And maybe just one pair of Jimmy Choos on display on the shoe rack. Admittedly, I do not believe my feet can withstand a pair of Jimmy Choos for more than 10 minutes but they do make a great accessory for a closet like the diva herself, Carrie Bradshaw.
Thank you, ModernHome Living Magazine for dreaming of the possibilities. It was a fun journey.
