Philips unveils Fidelio SoundSphere dock with AirPlay

Set to hit Europe in May, Philips’ gorgeous new Fidelio SoundSphere docking system consists of two curved speakers with an alien-pod vibe (especially with the eye-like tweeters on top) and a docking cradle that caters for Apple devices but also includes an auxiliary input to feed in audio from other players.

Contemporary Style Pendant Light – Elixir

This week in Brazil, Carnival gets underway, with the presentation of the various Samba schools out of Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Bahia. Though I have been to Brazil four times, I have never made it for Carnival, probably due to work, money, or trepidation. Brazil is wild enough during the rest of the year, and Carnival is not for the weak, mild mannered, or sleepy. I will be watching it this weekend on Globo TV, in the safety of my abode. ARNOVA from Archos adds web TV to your wake-up call

French media player specialist Archos is the latest to offer a modern take on the bedside radio alarm clock. Rather than wake you with a simulated sunrise or other mood lighting, the Arnova’s alarm can be set to your favorite internet radio station or web TV channel. Users can load audio, photo or video files directly to the device’s internal memory or via SD cards, wirelessly stream content from a computer via uPnP, and feed in tunes from an external MP3 player.

Front and center of the Arnova web radio and TV is a 3.5-inch, 320 x 240 resolution color display where users can choose to watch videos, clips, and shows from around 1,500 web TV channels.

Loom by Benjamin Hubert for Zero

Stockholm 2011: London designer Benjamin Hubert presented these woven polyester lamps for Swedish brand Zero at the Stockholm Furniture Fair this month.

Called Loom, the shades are made from a material woven in three dimensions that’s normally used for bedding.
